What We Can Learn From Walt Disney

Walt Disney took every challenge to his ideas as an opportunity to prove he was right. Before Disney, cartoons were short animation films between 5-10 minutes in length that were shown before feature films. Walt Disney wanted to produce a full-length cartoon but everyone told him that no one would sit through a full-length cartoon.

Taking up the challenge, he acted out the entire Snow White story winning over the audience. In 1937 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released and became the first full-length cartoon. Walt Disney thought like an entrepreneur and understood that money was a tool. He had a grand vision to create a theme park called Disneyland that would feature all his charters. To fund his grand vision of creating Disneyland he created the TV program, The Wonderful World of Disney. Disney invested heavily in himself.

He was intellectually curious and was very much interested in acquiring knowledge for his own self-improvement. He knew everyone has a story and sought out people from scientists to street sweepers, and asked them probing questions to learn about their jobs.

Walt Disney was dyslexic and his spelling and grammar were poor. However, most people who knew Walt Disney considered him the most educated man they knew. Perseverance and courtesy lead us down new paths.
