The other day I saw an interesting quote that got me thinking. “Some people spend their entire life waiting for their ship to come in, not realizing that they are standing in an airport.”
The concept of waiting for a ship to come in is rooted in the idea that someone else is driving. Waiting is based on hope and not personal action. Rather than eat right and exercise to lose weight and become more healthy, many people are waiting for a pill (their ship to come in) that will solve all their problems. They don’t plan for retirement because the government and the social security system (their ship) will take care of them. Entrepreneurs do not wait for things to happen. They are self-reliant and make things happen. They build their own ships.
Are you waiting for your ship to come in, or are you making plans to build your own ship?
