What if you could develop a simple sales hook video in just a few minutes that would convert visitors into buyers? This post aims to give you the formula to do exactly that.
The first question is why a video? Videos continue to get higher engagement than straight text. Most people think that creating a video sales hook is beyond their means and they need something out of Hollywood to get conversions. The truth could not be further from the truth. In fact, some of the best sales videos tend to be simple PowerPoint text slides on a blank white background with no distractions and a narrator reading the text.
The trick is in the design of the of the sales hook message itself. In his ground breaking book, “Duct Tape Marketing,” author John Jantsch said that to make a sale, the customer needs to know, like, and trust you.
- Know – Reveal something about yourself in a relatable way.
- Like – Win respect by being authentic.
- Trust – Share your struggles and secrets.
Kevin Rogers builds on the know, like, and trust idea from John Jantsch’s book, in “The 60-Second Sales Hook,” which you can download for free from Kevin’s website, says to create a 60 second sales hook you need to identify yourself, describe your struggle, and what you discovered from it and finally describe the results.
The following example takes the basics from Kevin’s 4 steps and adds a final step called “Call to Action.”
- Identity – “Hi, I’m Steve Imke, a serial entrepreneur living at 7,200 feet at the foot of the majestic Colorado Rocky Mountains.”
- Struggle – “Growing up, I struggled to keep up with my peers in school. At first, I thought I was just not as smart as my friends, but soon learned that I was not dumb; I was a flaming dyslexic.”
- Discovery – ” When I started my first business, I discovered that what was a learning disability holding me back all those years was actually teaching me to look at problems differently and develop alternative solutions to everyday tasks.”
- Result – “Dyslexia taught me the lessons necessary to become a successful entrepreneur. It taught me to think outside the box and challenge conventional wisdom, freeing me up to see business concepts in new and unique ways. After starting and selling 2 successful businesses, I have codified hundreds of business lessons and share them with thousands of entrepreneurs so they can see what dyslexia taught me to see.”
- Call to Action –”While I have written many books on the subject of entrepreneurship and small business, I have a special offer for you today. Simply click on the link below and receive one of my eBooks “Before You Leap” a $5.99 value absolutely free.”
