I own a solid orange polo shirt and often wear black suspenders. Being a DIY kind of person I often make trips to a local hardware store to buy materials or tools for one of my projects.
On more than one occasion I have worn this combination to a local Home Depot store and been stopped by a customer asking me in which aisle they could find something or if a particular product would work for their application.
Simply put, the color orange is synonymous with Home Depot, and just wearing an orange shirt made me look like I was a Home Depot employee. Similarly, a certain hue of red always makes me think of Coke and Pullman brown of UPS. Color can be an important part of your brand to the point that it is part of your identity, such as “What can brown do for you?” with UPS, or “Big Blue” as a slang term for computer giant IBM.
When people think of your brand, what color are you?
