Nikola Tesla was perhaps one of the world’s greatest inventors. His experiments with alternating current or AC proved that transmitting electricity through a copper wire with AC was much more efficient than using direct current or DC, the power source used by Thomas Edison.
He also invented the electric motor and even invented the wireless radio, which were inventions that changed the world. Unfortunately, Nikola Tesla had no social skills or business skills, which prevented his success. In contrast, George Westinghouse and Guglielmo Marconi, who were much better businessmen, capitalized on Nikola Tesla’s inventions and made fortunes while Nikola Tesla died pennilessly.
To become a successful entrepreneur requires much more than a great mind for inventions, it requires business acumen.
